Which one is it?

I noticed this when visiting the Schecter website. The Schecter Sixx has Butterfly tuning pegs on one picture and mini tuners on another picture. The description says Grover® ‘MINI” but the picture is different.

I prefer the Grover minis for this bass in particular. What do you think? Prototype maybe?

  2. Type Schecter Sixx into Google images, every picture has the mini tuners. I assume that they have the mini tuners because of this.

I'm guessing that too, because it would help avoid neck dive.

  4. I guess to be sure you would have to contact someone at Schecter. But does it really matter? Would the tuners affect your decision to buy the bass?

I'm actually pointing this out because seems weird to me that they missed this detail when they photoshoped the picture. I think that, in this particular bass, tuners matter because of the famous neck dive problems with Thunderbirds and similar models.

  6. Crappy editing. That is all.

It's possible that they issued the first run of basses with the heavier tuners and then switched to the mini's later on. Manufacturers are always tweaking their products. It's normal, and in most cases it's a good thing (they're either responding to complaints, or just trying to fix known problems).

I know that Musicman recently started putting lighter tuners on some of their basses. While it's not a major change aesthetically, it does slightly improve the weight of the instrument. Some of the Musicman diehards hate 'em, and others love 'em... but at least there's a choice! Here's a quote from Sterling Ball as to why they made the change: "they have better ratios and take 1/2 lb off the bass". 1/2 lb is pretty significant when you're dealing with an 8-10 lb instrument!!

If these basses are famous for neck dive issues, then they probably made the change in production to address the problem. I think it's pretty unlikely that they photoshopped tuners into, or out of promo shots.
