I want to buy a Fender P bass. What should I buy?

My preferences:

-rosewood fingerboard (preferably with blocks)

-Width at Nut 1.625

-passive

My budget is about $700

Suggestions?

I dunno about getting a 'board with blocks in that price range.

I would say Highway 1 or used American Standard.

Also, I don't know if you're hung up on having a Fender but I've played the Lakland Bob Glaub and it's a great bass for the money. They're ~$900 new so you could probably get one used in your price range. I have a Highway 1 P and after playing the Bob Glaub it almost got me thinking of making the switch...

5. I don't think you're gonna find a Precision with a block neck unless you find one with a Jazz neck. I don't think they made them. I could be wrong, but I don't remember ever seeing one.

6. I know you said Fender but IMHO, the Bacchus for sale down below will play circles around any Fender in that price range!!

Can you get a Highway 1 without the nitro?

What's the nut width on the Lakland Bob Glaub?

Edit: 1.75 too big for my preference.

9. ya know,

you could get a squier vintage modified precision bass, and with the money you save, get a blocked neck :)

thats what id do, and what im going to do, with a maple fingerboarded neck

I love everything about the Dunn, except the colour. I demoed one recently and it was quite nice. But that colour is not for me. However, I wonder how it would look with a black pg?

;) Then, spend three times as much on a USA one and have it in any colour that you do like!

:)smug: sounds to me like your asking for the moon ... on a stick)!

I haven't seen one with a RW neck, but I saw a recently purchased CIJ, natural/ash P with a maple board & black blocks over on the Pit. It's not listed on ishibashi's site, you have to ask for it. Should fit Vegan's budget if he's into it.
