I'm currently looking for a pedal with distortion and overdrive which would be good for playing rock/metal... things like trivium, avenged sevenfold etc.. Which pedal would be the best for me?

    I disagree.

  5. overdrive: original marshall guvnor
    distortion: homebrew electronics big-d
fuzz: black cat bass octave fuzz

those would be my picks...the fuzz is prolly what u want tho

  6. i know people will hate me for sayin this but you could use an odb-3

  7. Fulltone Bass Drive. Excellent overdrive pedal for bass.

im really thinking about getting the fulltone bassdrive any other suggestions?

  9. uh, how 'bout a "why"? or another suggestion?
I'd go with the Big Muff or, if you've got the money, a Sansamp BDDI. Try them out if you can first though.

+1 on the Russian Muff.. great fuzz sound...

I think I've decided that there is no decent Bass OD pedal that is truly an OD for less than $150...

That being said, Ilove my Hot Tubes... great OD sound.. can add growl, crunch, lotsa fun stuff,

For that money, I'd use a SansAmp RBI.

For mild to medium OD I currently prefer the Voodoo Labs Sparkle Drive over the Bassdrive. I really like the clean blend.

The Bassdrive is more geared towards bass. But really they are both just tube screamer clones with mods.

How good is the hot tubes at keeping the bottom end?

I agree the Fulltone Bass Drive all the way....It really is it's own kind of pedal and I wouldnt compare it to any cheaper quality pedals made by ibanez.

I'm running a SAPBDDI (drive at 100%) and a Fulldrive 2 for an amazing thick and creamy distortion tone.

None too shabby, actually... obviously as you increase gain, you lose the bottom end. I use it as an Overdrive to add some crunch when I need it. I don't really hear my low end because of our stage set-up, but I don't notice any difference in the way the stage vibrates.
