Which pots to use?

Hello, I am building a bass and need some knowledge. It's a Danelectro Rumor body that currently has two P bass pickups. 1 Volume pot and 1 Tone pot, but no selector switch. I'm going to install a three way toggle switch, new pots (and might add a blend pot) but I do not know what value pots to get. It currently has 500k's, but without a toggle switch it is just way to much power running two pickups wide open. So... watcha guys think?

Quality pots are relatively inexpensive. Try some 250k pots. If you don’t like ‘em, switch back to 500k.

The only reason I'd put 250K Ohm pots in there is if it were too bright for you.
250K Ohm take away the high end & some output.
