which power amp should i get?????

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by bassman454, Apr 5, 2002.

  1. i have been looking at some power amps for my bass rig. at the moment i have a 15 and a 410, my 410 is rated at 800 watts rms@ 8 ohms, so it is the cab i use.
i want a power amp that can give the 410 a lot of power, so a lot of power into an 8 ohm load.
i was looking at the carvin DCM2000 for $1599 aus:
which is 20hz-20khz; 450 watts @ 8 ohm per side or 700 watt @ 4 ohm per side, or 1400watt bridged into 8 ohm and 2000 watt bridged into4 ohm.
or the other choice so far is a yamaha P4500, @ 10hz-40khzwhich can supply 750 watts into 4 ohm per side so i am geussing around 350-450 watts @ 8 ohms per side, or it can supply 1440 watt bridged @ 8 ohm, (but i don't think it operates bridged into 4 ohm??)
so which amp would be a better amp?
thanks .please i need some input
  2. by the way the yamaha is $1440 aus.
