    I'm thinking of picking up a spector 4 string (I own two right one a NS5CRFM and a NS2000/5

I have the chance to get either the older model that is solid maple brand new for $1499 with case delivered or for the same exact price I can get the new model that has a maple top, a slice of walnut in bewteen and an adler back.

So has anyone played them both? Is there a tone difference? and which do you think had the better overall sound?

    LX Specs:

    Graphite-reinforced 3-piece rock maple neck
    24-fret rosewood fretboard
    Crown mother-of-pearl fretboard inlays
Gold-plated hardware: Spector solid brass bridge, Schaller tuners, and locking strap buttons

    NS4CRFM
    Neck-thru construction
    AAA figured maple body
    Crown inlays
    Two graphite reinforcement rods
Active EMG pickups and active EMG tone circuitry
    Gold-plated Schaller tuners

    34" scale is only 4-strings, 5 and 6'ers are 35"

I have both, actually I have 2 Euro's, 2 Euro LX's and 1 Legend. The sound is different. I actually like to LX tone better, it's 'woodier', has a stronger fundamental and is just warmer. Not to say that I don't like my Euro's as well. There's nothing better for slapping that a Euro. The LX still has killer tone, it's just smoother I think. The only actual difference between them is the body wood, that's it.

I love the sound of my Euro 5.
So Basswhore if you had the chance to get either an older model NS4crfm or the new LX for the same price $1499 with case devlivered which would you get?

You might want to go with the regular Euro then. And string it up with some stainless steel strings like DR High Beams. I hope your amp has a pad switch on the gain, the output on that will be HOT!

I have a Euro 5 now that is my main bass but I just want to pick up a 4 string as well. I tried the hi beams and am not really fond of them. I like the Nickle low riders better.
    my amp:
    GK 800RB head
    Two Hartke XL Alum cab's 4 X10 and 1 X15

If you already are playing a Euro-5 I would stick with the Euro-4 so you don't have to re-dial in your tone if you switch during a show.

Thanks for your input! I think I will get the Euro. Is 1499 a good price for a brand new one with a case delivered to my door? I'm sure I can find a used one on ebay but I don't really like to buy used basses. or do you know where I could get a better deal on a new euro 4?
