    Hey all-

for the several years, i've been using the "bounce" technique to slap, i.e. bouncing my thumb off the strings. however, i've been working on victor wootens double thumbing technique, and i was wondering.... should i focus on one, or are both useful? they differ enough tone wise that i can see the use of working on both. what do you all think, and what do you all do personally?

I don't see a problem with focussing equally on both. Having each technique available to you won't hurt your playing. Personally, I use the "bounce" method (with the occasional double technique.)
  3. Double-thumping is obviously a very handy technique to have due to its ability to dramatically increase your slapping speed. However, if you only use double-thumping then you really are limiting yourself and any technique is only as good as the appropriateness of its use.
