Having no experience with the Alvarez, I'd say... Best bang for the buck: Dearmond. That was a $400-$500 instrument just a couple of months ago, and $169 are blow-out prices. The only Alaverz I know of are acoustic guitars, and it sounds as if that bass may be an acoustic/electric (hence the AEB5 designation)). Is that what you want? The Dearmond is a solid body.

I played an Alvarez 6 string and the B string was so floppy I just couldn't play it.

You'll be much happier in the long run with the DeArmond, and at that price they are a steal. Better than the Alvarez too, IMHO.

definately the DeArmond. They were made by Guid before Fender took them over. I own a pilot plus 5 and highly recomend it. Best bang for the buck!!Godd Luck

Definitely the DeArmond. I got the Pro V, and I couldn't be happier. It's a high quality bass at a damn good price. Let us know what you choose!

DeArmond would be my choice. But I'm not you, so don't even listen to me, listen to the bass. I think you'd be happier saving up a bit longer for something on a higher level.

  13. You can't go wrong for <b>$169!!!!</b>
