I'm about to swap a MM Sterling for a 74 Fender P. I've always liked the Sterling for live use, but for studio it just farts out, can't get the kind of sound I like. I really like Meshell Ndegecello's sound, Stuart Zender from Jamiroquai... I started a thread a while ago on getting a 'greasier' sound and people recommended a Fender Jazz. I love the Sterling but its not quite right and I can't have both... comments?

You won't get the Zender sound with a P, that's for sure.

Is a J much different to a P? What does Stuart Zender play?

Why don't people just go steal the basses of people's tone they want to copy?

    HI!

If you say you like the J sound, don't buy a P bass. Not even close.
