I guess I had a pretty good week. My fretless 5 arrived from the bass palace Tuesday and today the guys at work gave me a Rick. What I am wondering is, what year it was made. I know its a 4001, but does anyone know how to tell the model year?

  2. Post the serial # (it's where the 1/4" jack is) and I should be able to reference it for you :)

You'll also need to include the 2 letters that appear below one of the jacks. The complete serial number for Rickenbacker basses looks like this: AB-1234. Those letters are really key to determining the year of manufacture.

  5. Are there any letters with that number?

  6. Heh, we posted that one at the same time, Winston :)

Thanks alot Slaphappy, I just got it today. The guys at work got it at a DRMO sale. It was used by the 35th Division Army band. I put new strings on her and she sounds great.

  10. Hey, you are welcome :)

You should post a pic sometime so we can see her!

Enjoy your bass, and write down that manufacture date somewhere :)
