I will be going to the San Francisco WhiskyFest this Friday so I figured if anyone had any specific whisky's they wanted a critique on they could post it here so I would make sure to try it and post back my findings.

Here is a tentative list of those that will be there and I would expect there to be quite a few very special rarities that are not listed.

I also enjoyed Brew Dog's Smokehead recently, as well as Spice Tree by Compass Box.

For Bourbons, everyone knows Makers and Knob Creek. Here's a few others I've enjoyed, as well...
    Black Maple Hill
    Corner Creek
    Elmer T. Lee
    Elijah Craig
    Jefferson's Reserve

I'd be interested in how the Oban D.E. stacks up against the regular Oban and your thoughts on the BenRiach Madeira Finish. Both have been "almost buys" recently.

Have you tried the 18yr Suntory Yamazaki? I tried the 12 and wasn't that impressed, but a friend brought the 18 to a birthday celebration and it's a completely different whisky. Worth a little bit of your time if you haven't tried it yet.

It is good to see we have some Whiskey/Whisky drinkers here. I will be sure to take the list with me for the ones I have not had yet and I will have a summary after the event.

I also must say that I am excited about the new Ardbeg.

I'd be interested to know the difference between the different Laphroiags, but specifically the 10 vs 18.

  14. Make sure to try the Auchentoshan Three Wood. It is sublime.

I think the best suggestion would be to try all of them, and make a detailed report.
You might want to bring a voice recorder, as taking notes will become progressively more difficult as your day carries on.
