Inspired equally by Brian Wilson and Hendrix, I installed a parchment Allparts pickguard on my '08 Olympic White Precision Bass...

I like it, but then again I like the tortoiseshell too... opinions?

  2. I like tort too, gives a more avantgarde look!

Black pickguards are cool, so rock n roll.

I like it. Clean looking, but once you mentioned the tort on white, I thought, wait a sec.....I got that. Well, it's cream really, a Jazz with matching headstock, with the tort. Love that look. Either one would look slick on a white suit. Although if you're like me it'll likely never happen.
p.s. what was on it before you replaced it?

With white, you can't go wrong with a white OR a tort PG. Either one looks awesome in different ways.

IMO White or White pearl ALWAYS looks better than tort or black

Looks good to me. Very clean. I am a huge fan of tort, but I think I like the white on white better. Gives it a classy look.

Nice, but it looks like you only play weddings. I'd give it some color.

Then again either parchment or mint would have also looked great.

  11. Looks awesome to me. Once I get a Fender it'll probably be white on white.
I could never tell the difference between white and mint though...

I think I'm going over to Allparts myself...That is sweet!

No fit issues? I think I read about having to adjust screw holes or something to that effect.

Superb. Now if you just put the covers and finger rest (a/k/a tug bar) on it, presto, you're ready for Surf City, 409, Little Deuce Coupe, Surfer Girl, Califonia Girls etc. etc. etc. Brian's white PBass is what inspired to buy my very on in April 1966. Mine did, and still does, have the Tort, but I love the white also. I've tried duplicating the look with a fairly new Jazz Bass, but could never get the whites to match up to my liking. One or the other would look less or more white than the other. I'm sure part of the problem was being limited to using existing guard holes, since I didn't want to make any changes to the originality. Looks like yours match really good.

The American Standard standard - tortoiseshell:

This guard actually is parchment -- as per Fender's specs for their Olympic White MIA Strat.
No issues at all -- drops right in. The Allparts guard differs in that it has a little less shielding foil and no truss-adjustment notch. Being I was experimenting, I chose the cheap (non-Fender) alternative in case I hated it. It was something like $22 delivered.
Olympic White and Parchment is how Fender does it! And like they say on What Not to Wear, it doesn't match, it goes.

    Thanks, all! :)

    White/White looks great.

Now for a maple fretboard with white blocks and binding.

Looks great. Though I think I prefer that yellower looking white.

................All just a matter of personal taste! :) I like the white on white, but would probably change the pickup covers to white also to really complete the look, IMHO.

I think the white/black/white on white is excellent - a very classy look. If you want to change it, you might try a gold p/g . . .
