Very very busy. I wish there were more good bass players around here because I'm often double booked and could use a sub from time to time. Working with at least 4 different groups. It's good to be the bass player!

I am a hobbyist making stone picks that I sell but mostly give away. They made me do this anyways.
    Outdoor gigs only.

  4. We're all vaccinated and resuming later this month.

Before the madness, I was playin 3-4 nights a week for 10 years or so. Our last hig as the madness took over was March 1, 2020. We took April an May off, resumed rehearsals and gigs in June. And I've had basically 1-2 a week since then. Circumstances of gigs changed. Most outdoors, earlier start times. But now? We back in full swing Fridays an Saturdays. I expect Wed thru Sunday to pick up soon.

I have 3 gigs this weekend, two different bands. All are outdoors, but we’re opened up enough here in central illinois that indoor gigs aren’t an issue.
I’m currently involved with three bands. I have a day job as a tool maker working 50 hours a week. My music calendar is actually busier than i would like it, but we’re pretty much done booking until fall.

Plenty of work in Central Illinois.

Much to my surprise, my BL has got us almost as much business as we did in 2019.

We’re rehearsing and doing the booking dance. We are looking at starting in September as both the guitarist and I are recovering from surgery (I’ve got one more to go in July). Rehearsals sound good! We’re all immunized and good to go.

  9. I've had to turn down way too many gigs because I'm too busy. This summer/fall is looking very good for live music.

We have just about 30 gigs booked and BL is just getting started. We will be busy throughout the year and are picking up more work as we move forward.

Last year in January I had about 30 gigs booked for the year. This year, it’s June and I only have 13 booked for the year. Hopefully it picks up,

My band only wants two or three a month. We're back there and turning down gigs. We've already done a few and have one tonight (weather permitting).

Since gigs came back here we fell backwards into a pretty decent manager. Now we play 6 gigs every 9 days and are booked till 2023. We just picked up an 8 week engagement at a great place midweek. So my vote is “More than ever”.

  14. We're back go gigging about the same or a little better since the closures.

We averaged 2 per month before covid, had 1 in May, 4 in June, 2 in July, 3 in August, 4 in Sept so far.

Now if only the weather would be nice on gig day!

Not yet, my main band of 20+ years probably won't do anything until late this year. One of the guitar players has some pretty serious health issues and Covid is a non-starter for him. But some guys I was working up a tribute act with reached out and it looks like we're going to shelve that and start writing and such. So depending on how long that process takes, we may beat my main band to stage.

  17. Played 1 gig in 2019, 1 in 2020, now we’re booked 1 in July and 1 in August. Playing more than ever before. LOL.

In 2020, between March 15 and the first week of November, I had a total of 8 gigs. During the same period in 2019, I had 27 gigs!

By mid-November, I was back up to pre-covid schedule.

We had many gigs booked in 2020 and lost about 50 of them. Have not had a gig since August 2020. Things are starting to come back and I just booked some gigs this week. Right now, I booked 1 in July, 2 in August, 4 in September, and 1 in October with many venues promising to book us after summer.

Landed a bass gig in a tribute band in April. We’ve been practicing (pretty much just me catching up, they are good to go) since then with our first gig in July. We already have 6 shows lined up with more incoming.
