What musicians out there know how to lock in with each other the very best? I think Flea and John Frusciante are on a completely other level. The way they communicate with each other in improvised jams and compliment each other's compositions is striking. And they put on a great show too. Just look at this, great stuff. What other musicians share a special musical bond?
Les & Ler. Pay attention to Ler's guitar from the start to the first verse: Primus: Wynona's Big Brown Beaver - YouTube When Les leaves room, Ler steps up. When Les fills up the space, Ler adds the perfect background texture.
This is hard to beat. Are we talking just rhythm sections? Because Page/Plant is the other pair that made THAT band work! If you want to talk about perhaps the longest running great rhythm section, I would actually say Mick Fleetwood and John McVie. They have been laying it down solid since the sixties, and man is it good!
Yes jpj and bonham for sure. dime and vinney, lars and james from metallica, and the best the Van Halen boys
JPJ just followed Jimmy's compositions for the majority of his basslines... This is the kind of example I was talking about. I never really thought about these two, and you're definitely right. Ler, like John Frusciante, knows how to make that special kind of connection with the bassist. Both he and John know when it's time to step back and play rhythm for the good of the song.
