I'm becoming more and more interested in gospel music and it ability to create emotion. I'm looking for some fresh, new material to listen to and maybe learn. I've heard of some established players, such as Christian McBride, Reggie Young and Maurice Fitzgerald. Looking for some of the younger cats and new blood in the genre.
Look up the drummer Larnell something or other. Big gospel player recently played on some gospel bass players alb. Larnell is famous in drum circles. Just got turned on to him
I don't know who plays on his song, the bass isn't really a standout either, but I have been loving some Kirk Franklin lately. I recommend "Smile" and "Do You Wanna Be Happy?"
Alan "Snoop" Evans, bassist for Fred Hammond (who also plays bass) but I want to give a shout out to this guy Tolulope Ogunbameru He has several covers on youtube that display his prowess and I'm sure in the future we will definitely hear more about him in Gospel music.
Detroits gospel scene is full of hot young players but one to keep an eye on is Brandon Rose. Here he is doing a duet at a Jam a couple of years ago with Nate Watt.
