Can anyone recommend someone to do some work on my Fodera? Here is what I would like done. #1- the body refinned, it is currently a see thru black which looks kind of purpleish in certain light. I just want it an even coated see thru black, it's a bolt on so it can be taken apart to do the job. i don't think it would have to be stripped, would it? Just evened out to match the darker edges, the headstock looks completely black so that wouldn't have to be done at all. #2- a P pickup put into the neck position, routed so that all I would have to do to go from a PJ setup to a JJ set up is pull the pickup out and switch pickguards, one pickguard would be cut for the P and one for the J. #3 The hardware switched to either all black or all chrome, and a pickup cover for the P, this may be impossible to find if I go with black hardware. does anyone make Black pickup covers for 5 string? Any idea of the prices? Can any ONE person do this or would I have to send it to multiple people? Carey Nordstrand? Mike Lull? Beuller?..Beuller?..Anyone....Help!
Couldn't Fodera do it? Or, since you want this extensive of work done, are you sure it wouldn't be cheaper to jsut buy another fodera with those options?
I don't know about that, i've called and emailed Fodera with no responce. I guess they are too busy right now. I don't think it would be cheaper because Joey usually gives me great deals on work. Britt
Why is it you want to change that bass. It looks amazing like it is. I'll give you my red conklin GT-4 for it!
If you say that Joey usually gives you great deals on work why don't you think it would be cheaper? I don't get it. You're referring to Joey Lauricella, right? I would have Fodera do it. I was considering a refin on my Fodera, too. I thought about my options and I decided that if anyone's working on it, it's gonna be them. I understand that they've done endless modifications to Mike Pope's bass with great success. Thankfully now that I live in Brooklyn, it's not too hard to get to their shop. Soon, I'll need a re-fret and I'm also considering upgrading to the new preamp. Their quote for a re-fret was substantial but I figure if they created the instrument in the first place, they know best when it comes to mods and repairs. A few months ago, I took my bass in for a check up and they leveled my frets for free! It took them one day. I know they're busy making basses but you should call them.
