I have read so many claims its not funny.

Some sites say 17mm, some people say 19mm, some say 18mm

What is the actual spacing of these beasts. Anyone?

  2. Yup, Eric's got it.

For the record, Ibanez uses 19mm on all the 4 strings from what I've seen, 16.5 on the SDGR 5 and 6 strings. SRX maybe 17 on the 5 strings, but they fell pretty similar to the reg. SR line.

All of the BTB four strings are 19mm
The higher end 5's (original 305 with the bubinga top and up) are 19mm
The low end fivers (200, 305FM) are 16.5mm
All of the sixers are 17mm.

I have owned one 405 and one 655.

I actually sold my 556 because I could not handle the tight string spacing, and I'm not a fan of mahogany in general. Here is a link to the Japanese Ibanez site with the sixer spacing listed.
