I might have a project coming up that I want to refin. Does anyone on the TB boards do "refins for hire"? I've refinished some stuff but it never comes out looking completely pro, I can never seem to wet sand the clear coat like the pros. I also don't have professional tools, so that may have something to do with it. I'm just throwing this out here now, wondering if there are any people and how much they'd charge (this will contribute to my decision to start the project or not haha!). Probably wouldn't hurt to get a list going for everyone anyway.
Well, I don't know what you mean by "around here," but Pat Wilkins (who does all of Sadowsy's U.S. work) is one of the best. Except he's in California. You'd have to contact him for pricing.
I wouldn't take anything to anybody BUT Pat Wilkins all the way! No offense to anyone else but he is the standard for me and his prices are very reasonable... Peace, T
3 shops I have used for refinish work with excellent results: Pat Wilkins (CA) Mario at the Guitar Mill (TN) Lay's Guitar Shop (OH)
Marty Bell is responsible for this. The dark lines on the rear shot are shadows from the blinds hanging in my window, that's not in the paint.
If you're looking for the nitrocelluose/relic thing, Mark & Matt Jenny do some excellent work. Very good prices too.
Talkbass member JohnK_10 does the very best refin/building jobs I've ever seen. You can take a look at his threads to verify.
