Who has played a gig tonight?

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous [BG]' started by puttz buster, Mar 13, 2004.

  1. I usually come home from a gig and can't sleep and need to relax before going to bed. So I eat then turn t.b. on. Who's played a gig tonight, and how was it?

Umm, I don't know if this is still tonight for you, aren't you on the other side of the international dateline or something? Anyway, I had a gig last night, and it was just ok. The drummer was feeling ill, the dolly broke off of the bottom of my rack, the crowd was smaller and more mellow than the last time we played there, and the manager kept telling us to turn down a bit. On the plus side, I played well, didn't drink too much, and my gear all worked fine. So all in all it was not bad, not great, just ok.

    How was yours?

  3. Yeh, its 4:20 in the morning in OZ. Gig was o.k. the liquor commission was doing rounds tonight, and we felt like we were being "watched", but in a bad way, which was annoying. Big crowd, no technical problems which is good. trying to wind down after the gig.

  4. Well, we played Curly's again for the billionth time. It's a fun place to play with respect to the crowd, it 's a big place, and big stage. The PA / FOH mix was sounding nice but our stage mix wasn't as good as usual, we'll see what we can do about that tonight. Drummer and I usually lock in pretty easily, but we weren't 'quite there' last night.

I think part of the deal is, when you have lots of musician friends who perform, and they show up at your gig, you are a bit more self conscious and don't relax for some reason. I asked our guitar player if he feels different about performing when other musicians are in the crowd and he said something to the effect of "Yes, totally!! It does make me self - conscious and tense, it's different when you know there are respected musicians in the club, listening to you."

    :meh:

Lots of cuties on the dance floor tho.... :hyper:

  5. yeh, because the other muso's are mates or linked in some way, you feel the eyes on you, and it makes you feel like you have to impress, and you don't wanna screw up because you might hafta work with those guys one day.

No gig tonight, but it was one of the stressful nights I've had in a long time. First, one the hoses on my car bursts and I started leaking anifreeze. Then the friend who was following me broke down, but I didn't know. I had to go out in another vehicle to go find out when I got home. Then I ran over a cat. It wasn't a good night.

I do have a gig next Saturday though. I'm looking forward to that. :)

  7. Was'nt a black cat was it? :bag:

  8. Tonight's gig was like buddah!!!!

Good stage mix, FOH mix, I nailed my bass / keyboard / vocal duties well and all bandmembers were on the groove. ((ahem)) people cheered after the songs that I sing lead vocals.

    :hyper:

I'm not much of a singer, but I'm starting to get the ego. Is that a good sign or bad?

    :D

Actually, it was. It ran in front of me; I tried to brake but Iwasn't fast enough. I was hoping it would make it between my tires, but then I heard that *thud* sound. :crying:

I hate killing animals, espcially cats, since I'm a big cat lover.

  10. Bugger :crying: thats a shame. Oh well his number was up mate.

Played at the Dover Downs casino in Dover, DE. Low volume keyboard/bass guitar duo. Fun, no stress, easy money. Doing it again next week.

And I don't gamble so I brought it all home;)

When this was posted I played at the buffalo rose in golden. Right across from where they make coors beer. Its a fun room. When I get home from a show I get on TB as well to wind down.
