Who here has the biggest amp/rig?

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Tym2cu_bass, Oct 3, 2004.

  1. I looked through most of the, "show me your amps" thread, and there were some huge rigs... i was suprised.

So who here thinks they have the biggest, or among the biggest, so please dont post here unless you are drooling at a rig or posting your huge rig.

    LETS SEE 'EM HUGE!

BS does, I'm pretty sure. Of course, I haven't looked through the amps thread in a while. Someone could have usurped him.

Which one (if any) of those Mesa power amps sounds most like the 400+?

    Where are your cabs?!

I would say the Strategy 400 sounds most like the 400+. It's simply a stunning amp.

    As for the cabs...

(waits for tombowlus to post his rig) :ninja:

  10. haha, that's what I was thinking. Al Caldwell and JT also have some big-time rigs.

EDIT: Here's a pic that Al uploaded to a thread in basses earlier today.

    Okay, if you insist. :p

Here is the original "EA Museum Rig." It's probably the biggest single rig that I have used for bass only, at least from a sheer # of drivers perspective.

BTW, Since then, I've sold the CX-310 (yes, I occassionally sell cabs!) , but picked up three VL-110's, two Wizzy's, one CXL-112 and one CXL-210 (not counting non-EA cabs).

  13. Good God that is ridiculous. That just shows how far i have to go. I've been running an ampeg BA-112 for quite a while now (4-5 years i think) and i have yet to play a gig that my little combo couldn't keep up with. You play gigs where you need the equivelant of about 17 of those that's impressive.

I never said that I needed that many cabs! Actually, that rig was done somewhat as a joke, seeing as how my fellow bandmates would accuse me of bringing too much gear (even when I only brought a 4x10 and a 2x12!). So, it started out as quite tongue in cheek, but ended up sounding soooooo darn good! Amazingly, it actually was not overpowering on stage (it was an outdoor gig, as you can tell), but I had almost nothing in the PA.

Below is the "wall of sound" the dead used circa 1974-1975
The two tallest arrays are his - i belive they are 18 1x15s high each. I'm pretty sure the cabinets are predecessors of the bag end S15B-D, but in any event, they're about the same size.
