Simple question, who was the first player to "invent" if you will, slap playing?
Most people credit Larry Graham as the first bassist to incoporate the slap technique. I think he initially developed it in order to cover for the lack of drums when he played at church as a kid.
Yea, my Guitarist brother insist it was Flea!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!*runs out of air, takes deep breath*
And the bass pedals of the organ when they lost the organist.
At least, he gets the credit. But, you never really know if you're into splitting hairs.
There were lots of people doing it before Flea.
I'm pretty sure it was Fieldy...
My momma did -- 24 years ago (I'm 28).
Clearly Jeff Berlin.
Haha, I kid. That's a can of worms we haven't opened in a while.
of course, it was me!
But then again... I invented Fieldy, so I guess I invented slap.
I heard that Simon of The Chipmunks was the creator of the slap method.........Du du du du du du!!!!
While we're at it why not... Carol Kaye! she invented everything else bass.... she has it in her log book stored under the Funk an Wagners back porch...
