Who invented slap?

  1. Simple question, who was the first player to "invent" if you will, slap playing?
     
  2. Most people credit Larry Graham as the first bassist to incoporate the slap technique. I think he initially developed it in order to cover for the lack of drums when he played at church as a kid.

    And the bass pedals of the organ when they lost the organist.

    At least, he gets the credit. But, you never really know if you're into splitting hairs.

    I heard that Simon of The Chipmunks was the creator of the slap method.........Du du du du du du!!!!

    While we're at it why not... Carol Kaye! she invented everything else bass.... she has it in her log book stored under the Funk an Wagners back porch...
