OK, we have Avatar for great sounding, fine quality, bargain priced cabinets and Essex for fine playing, bargain priced basses. Who is their peer in the amplifier realm?

  2. Peavey? At least used.

Hmm, maybe Carvin Red-Lines? They're pretty cheap (when bought direct) for their features and power...:bassist:

    Behringer? $200 300W head

I don't really know about the quality, though. And the "copying other designs" thing (although that's OK with bass designs). But watts/dollar is high.

In Australia, it's "Ebony". I bought 2. But this tip is purely for the Aussies on TB because as far as I know, they're not available anywhere else.

  7. Oh yes. I totally forgot about Behringer. Though I have yet to try anything by them, reviews seem favorable enough, and the price is crazy. Dunno about reliability.
