I'm assuming you mean, "You Can Call Me Al" from Graceland.

The bass player is Bakithi Khumalo. Oh, and the bass break was recorded backwards, just so you know...

Oh boy, if you don't already have "Graceland", go out and buy it! You won't regret it. Bakithi is the man!

  4. Actually half of the bass break was recorded backwards. Basically, they took the first part of the solo and 'flipped it'.

Graceland is a great album. I might not have gotten into fretless as much if it weren't for Bakhiti.

I've been running a studio for a while now, but I guess I don't have all my chops together yet...

How the heck do you record something backwards???
    :)

  8. no, you record it forwards. then you play it back backwards.

BTW, anybody tried backwards fretless, ala Mick Karn?
That makes for some funky tracks.
I've got one around somewhere from my old cassette flipping days...
