Who is the best polyvalent bass player?

    Man I just love those people out there that say ya I play bass! And guitar and saxophone and drums and piano and I am great at all of them! All I say to them is which one do you play ?

    I think McCartney is hard to beat. Bass, Guitar, Drums, Piano, Voice, Trumpet, God knows what else. (And he plays them all)

    Jaco was pretty versatile too.

  5. McCartney is first, followed probably by John Paul Jones, but that's as far as I know.

    IMO, Marcus Miller and Mark King are the best *bassists* who play a lot of other things. Prince and Lenny Kravitz are all-rounders who happen to play good bass.

  10. Claypool is actually a pretty damn good drummer. I had a link to a video of him just messing around on a drumset but it's broken now.

    Would Geddy Lee be a good candidate.
    Sings, plays bass and keyboards.
    In concert he's pretty busy, and to sing over some of those basslines is AMAZING.

    I agree. Prince is a genius. And Lenny Kravitz plays all his stuff too , he got some talent
