Who Makes "Airhead" Cabinets?

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by lbwdog, May 19, 2007.

  1. I'm looking to make a combo amp using either my Thunderfunk TFB550 or GK 800RB. My criteria is:

    a: Light (so probably Neo)
    b: loud
    c: wonderful tone (deep, ballsy, punchy)
    d: quality construction of course

    I own both of these rackmount heads and plenty of speakers for the larger venues but need something for the smaller club gigs. Leaning toward a 1x15, 2x12 or even 1x12 if it's strong enough.
    I play with two bands, one has two horns with a four piece rhythm section, the other is a classic rock and soul unit with two loud guitars, so I need something that won't wimp out!

    Any ideas and comments will be greatly appreciated.

    Try Dr Bass cabs.I think they would be just what you are looking for.Marc builds some great sounding cabs and airheads are one of his claims to fame.

    Marc's great to deal with, and I've been exceedingly happy with my 2260.

    You can also check out Low Down Sound. I haven't dealt with them myself, but I've read only good things about them. I'm pretty sure they can build anything you can dream up and make it sound good too. They have some interesting stuff for sure.

    Airhead option;
    Sale 100 cost 2-4 space
    Sale 130 cost 5-6 space

    But, I don't believe thay can be used with the new Rhino lined cabs.

    If your looking to build, a few people are extending Bill Fitzmaurice Omni10 into airheads but I believe it would be the Jack10 plans now. Bill may correct me.
