There is no one that makes the "best amp". It's all personal choice. Play on as many as you can, but at the moment, I'd reccomend a Yorkville XM100 -- 15" speaker, 100 watts!

It's REALLY HARD to get by on just 100W, savew some more money and get a bigger amp.

Get a Yorkville XM-200. Loud as hell.

What type of group are you playing with?

What type of equipment do they have?

    Do you mind used equipment?
You might be able to find decent deals on used equipment on www.musicgoround.com or ebay. Used equipment typically sells for 1/3 - 1/2 the retail cost.

my favorite 100 watt combo is the Ampeg B100R. Really a sweet sounding amp.

Does Fender make a good amp? I found one at a good price.

i got a second hand 100 watt bass amp 15 inch speaker. its good and i can play bass ( or him with me) with my brother easily( we have an AVT 100 marshall for guitar) and both can be heard easy enough.

how much should you pay for something like that

That is the beggest problem I have. I only have a crate amp that is for guitar. The sound quality and volume makes it hard to play with and acoustic guitar, let alone a group or band. Thanks the input everyone.
  10. The one that sounds the best that I can afford.
    The rest is academic.

Your 15" 100W isn't the "best". It is only a start a long way from "real" bass amps.

However, don't be dicouraged - almost all of us played through junk at first.

Give a look at Fender's new line of Rumble amps that have a series of LED's that light up as you play - they make a 100W that might be fun.

You may want at least 200w if you want to be heard over a drummer, and 300+ if there are a few guitars involved as well.

Anything less than 10,000W is just amateur. :D

Seriously, the suggestion of getting a Basic Black is a good one. They are great little amps that really do one hell of a job. Add an extension cab later and be even happier.

Of course, the final decision depends on your budget which you haven't told us. I've got about $1000 in my rig. If I were you, I'd plan on spending a minimum of $500.

On my second Laney. First was a DP-150 Great sound and loud for what is was for power.

Now using an RBH-800 with only 2 ampeg 10's and still got the best sound out of my Fender I could find.Gonna add 2 more 10's and see where we go from there.

  16. A GK 400RB/115 Combo kicks bootay.

    Pignose B100v

Warm fat tube sound for a little over 200 bucks.

    Check eBay.

I have an Ampeg B-100R and I love it.

Some people may dislike it, though.

And there are also many amps I don't like that others love.

Go and try the most numerous amps possible, and make your choice.
