  1. i want to get a 15 or 18 to accompany my 6x10, not enough bass. which one would accompany an ampeg 6x10 classic?
  2. Peavey yeha thats the ticket!! Just kidden', I would go with the Ampeg. You may want to check out the Vic Wooten 15 (BSE-115-?) they are very loud and low.

If you want killer lows and have a BIG vehicle*, check out one of those old Acoustic 301 horn-loaded 18" cabs.

*It's as tall as an 8x10

I could be wrong but I think you mean BXT-115HL
and yes they are. I got a chance to play through 2 of them using a SVT3pro. Lot's of low end rumble.

Well, my friend Dustin uses an SWR Goliath Sr. with an SWR Big Ben (18).

Let me tell you, that 18 KICKS. It about punches a hole in the crowd. And with only one guitar player in the band. Watch out!

That's my take on the 18s. Though I've heard excellent things about the Bag End and Eden 18s.

I hear that. It's probably got the best punch of any 18 I've heard. Which is good when you're less than 15 feet away. Curse projection. If 18's didn't really form a solid sound untill 15+ feet back, I'd already have a pair. That's right, a PAIR of them...

In fact, I wonder if Epifani would make an 18. and Epi 6x10 and 18 paired up? Humina Humina...
  11. sweet guys, thank you for all the info and keep them coming. im thinking about going for the big ben now. prolly be biamping it along with my 6x10, lows to the big ben, highs and mids to the 6x10 prolly. prolly need a crossover though.

    oh yeah, can i biamp a 4ohm 6x10 and an 8ohm 18?

    thank you

    depends on the amp/poweramp.

but most likely yes - you'd need a crossover and a stereo poweramp.
  13. What is a prolly????

I use a Rolls crossover to split my signal:
It is very small crossover (less than 1/3 rack) that goes down to 50Hz that runs around $80-$90 new.

    I crossover at 100Hz if I use a single 1x18 cab (with a 4x10 on the highs).
If I use 2 1x18 cabs, I crossover at 75Hz. This is what I use when playing Outdoor shows or when there is no house PA (or I don't trust the house PA to deliver deep bass).

I would think that a 6x10 cab should be able to produce low frequencies better than my 4x10s so a crossover point between 50Hz and 75Hz might work well.

The SWR is the fastest 18 I've ever used. It's punchier than a lot of 15's, in fact.

Dave Schools of Widespread Panic uses 2 Eden 410xlt's and one JBL SR series 2x18 subwoofer. That's gotta hurt! Here's a pretty good pic of it.

Yeah, but Dave does NOT load those babies in and out! What was he using back in the day when he DID load his own rigs?
