Don't worry, man...your Fodera is the luxury model compared to mine! I have a Fodera NYC Empire. It's basically just a Fodera J bass. Simple one piece swamp ash body w/ no fancy top, Bart j pups, Bart NTMB preamp. No block inlays, no flamed/quilted/burled/spanked/spalted anything. I love the sound and feel but THIS has got to be as plain as it gets with Fodera (I'm not complaining though!! Just letting you know that it gets plainer than the Monarch!).

    Here's a pic:

I personally love the plain look:D

    Nice bass.

When a bass is too fancy I just feel too conscious about handling it. It's like it should be hanging in a museum or something.

  11. I love it! Its one of the prettiest Fodera's Ive seen (im in awe of the figured woods, but just not interested in owoning one.) what does one of those run, dollar wise?

If you're talking about my NYC the 4 strings retail for 2400 with no add-ons. At the time I got mine I think rosewood fingerboard was a 250.00 addon. I paid 1200 for mine. It was 2 years old and mint.

Now the thing that surprises me is that this bass is a 35" scale. I was under some assumption that all the Foderas were 34" scale with a few exceptions.

Are the 5 stringers ususally a 35" scale?

Yeah, it's a great bass with great tone and it weighs more than I would like it to.

Here's a website that I made not too long ago with pics of my bass when I was talking to someone about trading for something lighter:
