I keep hearing that they're great for slap and soloing, etc, but how does the sound actually work in a band situation? :bassist: What kind of music do you play with it and what does the rest of the band think about it?

    i have 4 lightwave basses.

i've used them in all types of situations.

jazz, folk, irish, metal...with varying results.

can't wait to try my new fretted lightwave on a jazz gig next week.

I have one in the making.
I've liked all lightwave equipped basses I've tried, the sound fits me.
I play everything I can, but I think the Lightwave will be better for metal, funk and jazz-rock.

I've had my Lightwave for a month or so now... I play something between free jazz and ambient/progressive, but honestly, I find the instrument will fit any setting I can throw it at, it's rather versatile.

The thing with the Lightwave is that they sound different. They don't necessarily sound better or worse (cleaner to my ears..). I could easily play metal with it, I could play swing with it, I don't have a worry about what the bass can't handle.
  6. Dang! It looks like you're becoming the John Turner of Lightwave pickups! :D

Any opinions on how a lightwave would sound for reggae?
