I'm looking to buy a good rig, like a 4X10 with a 1X15, looking at ashdown ABM's, or possible Mesa/Boogie powerhouse setup. my question is if say the mesas, if th 4X10 is 600 watts, and the 1X15 isanother 400? what head do i buy to power it? and ive read the 4/8 ohm FAQ but still dont understand what would matter. Would one head power both the 15 and the 4 10's? Pleas ehelp im desperately lost.

  2. Hey Brian,
The easiest way to go is to get two 8-ohm cabinets and power them with one amp. Hook both cabinets up and you'll have a 4-ohm load, which will give you more power from the amp. In your example, with a 600-watt 4x10 and a 400-watt 1x15, you'd probably want to get an amp that puts out 800 to 1,000 watts at 4 ohms, although something less powerful would work.
Do a search in this forum and you'll find a lot more information.
