Who's making the favored 2x10 these days?

Years ago, I owned a pre-Fender SWR Goliath Jr. II 2x10 cabinet. It sounded killer (had that tight 80s/90s L.A. bass tone), was built like a tank (beefy plywood, stout metal grill) and was easy to move around. The attenuator for the horn was sweet and now seems to be standard on bass cabs with horns or tweeters.

I sold the Goliath Jr. a few years back with some other gear and am now looking for a similar cab.

Anyone have any ideas as to who's making the favored 2x10 these days?

    Thanks!

Depends on who you ask. IMO you can't beat the Fender Rumble 2x10: loud, lightweight and inexpensive.

Barefaced Two10 would be my choice

  5. Bergantino Reference 210. Probably the best and made in the USA.

    Unless you're old. Then it's the HDN210.

Not sure of your budget. But the Revsound 210 is a very sweet cab.

DNA's DNS210 would be my first choice. I personally have the DNS410. Another good choice for about the same amount of money would be the Eden D210XST. Really great low-end (tight and focused even with a low B) on both of these and still have great transient response, sensitivity, and high power-handling (high power handling and great sensitivity don't often go together).

Both were designed by David Nordschow, the XST before he sold Eden and the DNS210 when he started DNA (David Nordschow Amplification) after he left Eden. The DNS210 is the better of the two, but if you can find a good price on the Eden D210XST (as opposed to the D210XLT), I'd grab it.

You are asking at the right time, as TB is presently filled with threads on the topic, for the reason that lightweight class D amps matched with a small cabs are becoming the rage at TB. My first thought was that it was simply another fad, but now I'm thinking it is indicative of bassists all gradually copping that stages and audiences are diminishing, but more to the point, will not be coming back.

So true. If anyone needs to get rid of a Mesa Boogie Diesel 2x15 or (2)1x15's they will never ever use again, I will charitably accept it or them. If you have already sold the drivers for scrap, I will still accept the empty box or boxes. [humorous gif here]

Avatar 2x10's are a great deal and he had purchased a bunch of speakers from SWR if i'm not mistaken.

I still love Led Sleds, so I have been
drooling at all the cheap, still-minty last-year's-models that have been filling my local Craigslist.

I’m playing an Eden XST210 that crushes! I also have an Ashdown NEO 210 UK that crushes. I’ve tried a TON and the Eden was by far the best for my taste.
