Why can't I use the chat?

This community seems like a great place, and I've tried a few times to use the chat, but for some reason I just can't do it. I know my name is typed correctly because it's automatically there, and I've logged out and logged back in to make sure my password is what I think it is, and I'm typing that correctly as well. Is there some rule that states you need to be a member for x amount of days, have x amount of posts or be a contributing member to chat?

Sorry if this has been asked before,
    Jacob

I wouldn't worry- the chat is pretty dead... all the time.

i used to be a supporting member. but it ran out a few months ago.

and i haven't been working much and the money i do have goes towards things i need.. gas and stuff... but i will re-support soon

  10. There are mods that have never been a supporting member, I think I remember them saying they contribute in other ways other than money (example: being a mod) and I agree.:)
