    You gave yourself GAS.

That's why I stay out of guitar stores when I'm not looking for anything. It's bad enough participating in forums, I don't need to try to sell myself something I had no need for yesterday.

I was happy with my gear and then I happened into Sam Ash and tried out a Ric through a new Ampeg PF-50T and now I can't stop thinking about how sweet it sounded.

That was me 3-4 days ago walking into a local music store. I plugged a Fender Roadworn Jazz into some Orange combo and thought, "Awe crap, here comes the GAS!" :rollno:

Actually, a similar thing happened to me at Sam Ash last week. Went in to see if they had an Epiphone T-Bird Classic Pro... They didn't. But they DID have a 2001 Epiphone Casino (made in Korea at the Peerless factory) in mint condition. Plays like a dream, sounds just like I remember. I used to own an awesome Korean Casino that I had to sell a few years ago. Been intending to replace it, but I have yet come across a Chinese-made Casino that measures up to the Korean ones. I even A/B'd this one against a new, Chinese Casino that was hanging right next to it. The Korean one was clearly superior. Unfortunately, I won't have any expendable cash until I recover from Christmas, at which point it'll probably be sold.

I could probably get by without the Ric but that Ampeg head was awesome. I've been waiting to try one and it was all I had hoped.

    Been there.

    Suggestion:

Never kick tires. That way madness lies. Whenever you go shopping, shop with the intent - and the ability - to buy. You'll sleep better nights if you do.

Life is far too short to be experiencing unnecessary regrets.

The bad part was I was just tagging along with my guitar player/ brother in law who just got a Fender Am Deluxe Strat for xmas (helluva nice gift). I wasn't planning on kicking any tires.

Next time I go to Guitar Center (after paying off the PJ bass I just put on layaway, today, that is) I think I should walk in wearing just a pair of boxer shorts...maybe then they'll ban me!

Seemingly so simple. Now I've been finding myself researching RICs. It just never ends does it?

Since you're a supporting member, you can set up a keyword alert around "PortaFlex Tube" and/or "PF50T" that will alert you whenever someone is selling one 2nd hand on here.

I was jonesing for a Tone Hammer amp, and kept my eyes on Guitar Center & Sam Ash used stuff, until I found one.

It does not end. I'm on my 3rd USA Lakland bass! Luckily I do lots of gigs so they pretty much pay for themselves, but still. Resistance is futile!

That is the exact reason I am glad no one stocks the Mesa Subway D-800 around here. I know if I ever have the chance to plug into one, I will want one. If it was a D-800 combo and the weight was right, I don't think I could wait. We live in a time of great equipment availability. The PF-50T should be around for a while. You'll probably keep thinking about it until you make it happen.
