Why do all of my hipster musician friends worship J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr...

...but can't name a single song by Dinosaur Jr? Is it J. Mascis's ingenious marketing skills to appeal to young people by dressing like an old young person, or is it his chops? Is it the white Jesus look or the fact that he wears Converse? Did he really invent the Jazzmaster? Why isn't Nels Cline appreciated as much as J. Mascis?

I've got no idea what he's talking about

  4. Should be a crowd starting to form in a couple of minutes..

  5. Why don't you ask your friends?

I can tell you that Dinosaur Jr. is palatable to my metalhead friends, my hipster friends, my dad, and myself (and probably others!). I don't know if that helps answer your question, but I've never heard of this Nels Cline character.

  6. Give them some Stanley Clarke, Victor Wooten, and Flea and see if they stick.

When my friends talk about them they say things like "wall of sound"
    or "great solos" or even
    " awesome ".
I'm not a fan but I have by chance seen them play three times. The guitar was so loud you couldn't hear anything else. Maybe that's the wall of sound the fans talk about. Then at the end they play that one song that had a lot of radio play.

I suppose if I knew who J Mascis is, I'd be a hipster.

They put a new J. Mascis in your leg when you had your knee replaced.

I haven't had a right medial Mascis for over 47 years. Now I don't have either in my right knee.
