Why is just one note buzzing?

Okay, I've got a fret buzz on the 11th fret of the D string. Why is it just this one note does this and not the other three? If the 12th fret is too high, shouldn't all the 11th fret notes buzz too?

It can be high just in one spot.

It could also be that the nut slot for that string is cut slightly lower than the others - so when you press down at that point, that string is just touching the fingerboard between the nut and the fretting point.
