Why isn't there a bass with a neck set at an angle?

Ya know, an ergonomic thing... neck with a pocket cut at 45 degrees to take some of the stress off your fretting hand's wrist? Is there such a thing?

  2. So a bass guitar shaped like a V?
The bridge would be riding off the body pretty high...

No, instead of a straight cut for a neck pocket, have it angled/tilted the other way.

  4. So angle the neck up towards your head?

Surely 45 degrees is an exagerration. Gibson sets their necks for SGs and maybe others at around 4 or 5 degrees tilted back for a few reasons.

Or the body could be thinned out on the bottom end. I've just noticed after losing some weight that my bass is a little harder to play because it's perpendicular to my body and there is a steeper angle on my wrist because of it.

Jaco Pastorius' kid has a bass like that. It's a bolt on with a neck that leaves the body at an angle.

  8. I thought David was his nephew?

Might be. I vaguely remember seeing it in an interview.

    YES EXACTLY THISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  13. The Torval Twist is on such solution to the problem albeit a completely different one than you're suggesting. And there is a company that makes a body shape that angles the neck in a more upright direction. Which I think is what you're suggesting. I'm off to search pics and name!

Yep! Torzal. It's the only bass I am aware of that is constructed the way you are describing.

Here's one for sale in the TB classifieds (I have no affiliation with the seller):

Yeah I'm not sure. It was this YouTube show with a bunch of guys talking bass. I think they're in Detroit. Bobby Vega was on another episode.

Yeah, David is his nephew. Felix is his son, he plays a Fodera.
