Will I Blow My Speakers?

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by MarkMcCombs, Feb 26, 2002.

  1. I'm thinking about buying a Carvin Probass head, which in bridged mode puts out 500 watts @ 8-ohms. With this I'm gonna use a Peavey 410TVX cab, 350w program, 700 peak. What's the chance I'll blow speakers with this? That would be bad.

    If needed, I can run the amp in 2 channels, at just 250 watts per, so no harm there, but I'd like to run all 500 watts.

    Just don't turn it up to 10. :)

    The cool thing about what you are doing is that since you are not forced to turn it all the way up, (in theory at least!) all of your volume should be clean.
  3. Very unlikely you'd have a problem. Just be reasonable in your settings.

    hey Mark,

    you still using the CXC? i can see how it would be great for smaller gigs...portability.

    pardon if i've asked before, but, where in KC do you live.

    i was on the Kansas side for 12 years.

    Slim to none if you don't max the output and drive the thing into serious clipping.
  7. ;

    I actually just received my CXC last Friday; it was ordered on 12/10/01!!! I do like it.

    This rig is for my church, however. We need something there with a little more power.

    I live in Lee's Summit (the ignorant side, Kansas is the arrogant side!).

    i was on the kansas side in the early to mid 70's.

    back then, BOTH sides were ignorant.

    no one knew how to spell arrogant at that time.

  9. Never do that on the first date. Get to know each other first.
