Okay, I love my Geddy to death. Its everything I want and more, and I plan on leeping it for a LOOONG time.

Will regret modding it? I want to put new knobs, pickguard, strap buttons, tug bar, and pup cover on.

Im not asking your opinion on what I should buy, because Im set on what I want it to look like, but I want to know if Ill regret drilling holes. Im not a double sided tape kind of guy.

Just start off the the mods with don't require anything be done to the body like new holes. Just put the new knobs, scratchguard, etc. on and wait to drill anything until you're happy with how it's turning out.

  4. You worried about it reducing the value when it's old enough to be considered a vintage instrument?

I wouldn't worry about it at all. Do what you need to make it play and look the way you want now, not what a collector may want in a couple of decades time! :)

Exactly why I worried. Im just a future thinking person, economically. But this is the bass I would take to my grave with me. So, I want it to be mine.

And I agree Mikio, I want it to be the Geddy Sig made for Jordan. ;)

Oh, on the knobs, it says "For Spilt Shaft", does my Geddy fall into this category.

Im ignorant on a lot of techincal bass-icality.

What you plan are pretty simple mods that would make it more "yours"

Here is mine ... and no regrets I love it

    JimiJazzdoc2.

    Body ... Geddy
    Pickups Nordstrand
    Bridge Gotoh
    Neck MIJ 62 RI
    Pickguard Fender 62 tort

:) ... Now it really is "mine" it's know around here as the Jimi Jazz

  8. You can take off the knobs and the if the shaft has a line going through it.
If it does, they are split shaft.
If they aren't, they still should work.
I put J bass knobs made for solid shafts on a bass with split shafts.
    Go for it!
Drilling holes is fine- you can always put the old gard and knobs, etc back on!
Just keep the old parts in case!
    Peace

if the "split shafts" are what I think they are, the Geddy doesn't have them.

PS: And a totally black bass with that beautiful white neck would look killer. So yes, they'd work.

Only thing I personally wouldn't do is the P-up cover, There is a reason why folks take P-up and bridge covers off no matter how cool they look!!:D

  13. You can go to an L&M or GC and I'm syre they's have sold shaft knobs.
The plate will work fine- they all are fit for the standard... the Fender Jazz.

Should I go black or chrome pup cover?

  19. Should you do simple mods? Absolutely...or you can do something a little more complex like I (and others) have done.

    It's all good.

  20. I wanted to put chrome colored pickup covers (not the ashtrays but actual covers to replace the black ones on the jazz pickups) but I couldn't find any :-( Does anyone no if such an animal exists?
