Will Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounds fit in a Warwick Corvette

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by Charling, Jan 20, 2019.

  1. Hi there

the listed dimensions, specifically length, of Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders is a bit vague and generally just says 9cm for both on the site I am buying. I am using them to replace the active MEC pickups on a Warwick Corvette on which the preamp has truly died and it would cost £500 ish to repair (ie, can't be repaired except by a specialist so it basically means all new electronics, the pull-for-passive option has gone down as well). I'm going to convert it to a fully passive jazz bass style circuit.

The pickups that came out of it match the size of the Lindy Fralin PUPS on my main bass, where the bridge pickup is about 90.5mm and the neck 94mm ish.

I'm trying to find out if a set of quarter pounds has roughly the same dimensions, I can't find anywhere the specific lengths of the new pickups I want to install and I'm worried they are both the same size a la some newer jazz bass setups.

I CAN expand the cavity, but I'd rather not, so I'm requesting in case anyone knows if the stock Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounds have the slightly smaller (narrower) neck pickup, in which case I'll order a set and they'll slot right in.

    Thanks in advance!

    Owen

You may want to look at the exact dimensions (in inches) for the neck and bridge QPs.

  3. Thanks, I hadn't managed to find the spec sheets on the Seymour Duncan website!

They are always on the individual pickup pages, under 'dimensions'...which is usually a link to a gif or a PDF.

    No, they won’t.

I believe the Warwick/MEC Jazz neck and bridge pickup size is same as a 4-string Jazz bridge pickup....same size for both.

  7. Hmmm, no, at lest o the model I have they are similar to standard size, they have their model number printed on the back, and it ends in S or L for short or long. I was slightly wrong in my measurements above and they are in fact about 92 mm and 94 mm, so roughly the same as the QP’s!

Thanks for the help though! There must be a few different variations...
