Will this damage a guitar? Perfect 4ths tuning

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous [BG]' started by JoeBbass, Feb 2, 2014.

  1. I want to tune a normal guitar in perfect 4ths (EADGCF). I'd be doing this on an electric one and an acoustic one.
Will it damage the neck or the cause the strings to break?

I know this isn't bass related but I can't be bothered to join a guitar forum.
  2. Not at all!
The extra tension from those strings is fairly minimal.
However, if you're using extra thick gauge strings I would get standard gauge first.
  3. Thanks! The answer I was looking for.
