This footage according to the comment was shot in 1980 for HBO or Showtime....

Check out Willie Weeks on his P Bass ...that's classic P Tone right there....TOO BAD ITS NOT HIM ON THE AUDIO...READ ON....

    Pretty awesome vocals too.

  2. Highly Doobious…

This is a lame music video mashed onto the studio sound track. My ears tell me that it is the unmistakable playing of Tirin Porter with his classic picking sound, while Willie graciously appears on the video.

It's not lame..if you don't like it that's OK ..but lame is a stretch.
Its not the studio track..the bass line is different in a few sections of the song.. The sound quality is high because it was a broadcast on HBO or Showtime so it's probably a soundboard recording.....

Doobies are pretty impressive live band look at the different Youtube footage..might not be your style of music but they do know how to put on a show.

  12. 57,

I certainly don’t mean to slam you. I’m pointing out what I see and hear; they’re two different things. It IS Tiran playing.

I love the “real” Doobies- and Willie too. McDonald always makes me nervous… I always think that he’s going to choke on one of the marbles he has in his mouth- or are they bubble-gum balls?

I did not expect this thread to go in this direction...but after watching through this video again....who ever did the overdub did a masterful job.... kind of a disappointment to see that this is not the real audio...
