Windows 2000 IP configuration

Discussion in 'Off Topic [BG]' started by volumefiend, Feb 12, 2004.

  1. Hey, I've not too much experience with Windows, as I've used Linux more often. How do I find out my IP in Windows 2000? What is the IP configuration utility?

When you're online, the fastest way is when you right-click the small icon in the lower right bottom (two computer monitors overlapping each other), select status, click the right "set card" - and there it is.

Other way is via control center -> network -> right-click the icon for your inet connection -> properties -> Internet protocol (TCP/IP) -> properties -> advanced if I recall correctly.

Actually, winipcfg only works in win95/98. ipcfg does not exist.

In W2K and XP the right command is ipconfig

    Start-run- <type>cmd <enter> ipconfig
