So... you can call me crazy, but I think all those million prices you can win are ridiculous. I've seen prices of several millions. No idea why lottories give so much, but I wouldn't want to win it. I think 250.000 - 300.000 bucks is a very nice price.

    Agree or disagree?

  5. I've got a problem with modern lotteries.

In the early '90s, Lotto America reached $44,000,000 and it was the biggest at that time. A scumbag from Dean Witter was interviewed and said if you took the lump sum payout, you'd get over $1000 a day off low-risk investments. A person could live pretty good on that.

Now, more states are involved and the odds have increased, so it isn't unusual for the prize to exceed $500 million, and it takes several un-won drawings to get there. They need lower grand prizes, better odds of winning, maybe less states per lottery, maybe less numbers needed to match.

It's a frickin' numbers racket, which was outlawed so the government could take over.

Immigrant makes a good point , but it's even more insidious than that.
Most big winners die shortly after winning , where does the money go sometimes ? The State.

I think the cash for life lottery is better , 1000 doll hairs per week.

  14. I think the top end of a lottery should be $50M with more grand prize winners. That leaves about $25M after state and federal taxes. That's enough to change the winner's life and will put them up with the one percenters. I would also like to see the winner's remain anonymous, if they so desire, so that they don't get hit on by relatives, friends and the public. We all have heard the stories about everyone trying to scam them out of their winnings.

Greater than the money put in.

  16. I would gladly take anything. Heck, I could pretty easily turn $500,000 into enough money to love on for the rest of my life with minimal work. I need the half million to do it though:/

I'd buy a hella sweet boat and trailer, loads of high end Japanese rods and reels, and proceed to drink myself to death while out fishing. I'd leave the rest of the money to a badger rescue. Just how I roll.
