On December 21st 2017, a build off challenge was issued here in Luthiers Corner.

The theme was “Walnut Free for All”.

The entrants were asked to build any style bass as long as the body is at least 65% walnut, and the neck is at least 65% walnut.

Please review each of the builders pages listed in the links below, and vote for the 3 instruments you like the best.

    Thank You

  4. Kudos - I cast my votes. Too bad there couldn't be photos of all the basses posted here in the thread - in order - to make it easier.

What fun and how inspiring this has been over the past weeks! Thanks to all!

Everyone killed this challenge, it was really tough picking just 3.

  11. Very tough to pick 3, but I did. And now I'll start second-guessing my choices.

I do think John Clegg needs a special award for "best jig." Although "best" may be a little subjective.

I'll echo all of the "Hard to pick" comments made by others....

I've cast my votes but have left out some stunning instruments.....:(.....

I have to thank @Scoops for organizing, and every single one of the Luthiers for contributing to this wonderful competition...

It's given me a lot of pleasure....

    Cheers to one and all....

I think I would like to award you with the top drooldrooldrooldrooldrool award

  14. OK Folks.....

I found it very hard when I got near the bottom to remember which bass was which and I found it a little confusing going back and forth to all the links. In that spirit, I have posted the builds with the names below. NOTE: This should not discourage anyone from taking in the build threads which are all fantastic, this is merely a quick reference so you can remember which is which. I used the photos I found which showed the entire basses. If I made any errors, let me know, it's a quick fix:

    WALNUT-BUILD-OFF.
