On December 22nd 2018, a build off challenge was issued here in Luthiers Corner.

    The theme was “Mash-Up”.

The entrants were asked to build a bass that combined elements from two or more sources, and that the electronic signal path could not be considered as one of the elements.

Please review each of the builders pages listed in the links below.

You have 3 votes to make use of.

You can vote as you please, but I respectfully ask that you vote for the basses that best conform to the build off challenge.

    Thank You

Even after looking at the builds over the last 3 months, it's still hard to pick 3

  5. That's a great bunch of instruments, happy to finish anywhere in the top ten considering that group.

It certainly wasn't easy to choose. But that is a great thing.
    Fantastic work, you all rock!

I’m simply blown away by all of these basses! Curious how many are by pro or semipro luthiers v. Hobbyists. Can’t wait to dig into the threads to find out! Awesome job all the way around

I'd call myself a hobbyist, but I've been working on guitars for over 30 years, and have built quite a few instruments previously. :)

I can't speak for others, but I would put myself as a builder at this time. I need to pay my bills, and building basses won't do that for me. So working my day gig provides me the luxury of doing this building stuff on nights and weekends. I do have a side business that I do repairs and custom builds.

Cant wait till I retire, the formula then changes

Thanks for the kind words. I'm a hobbyist.
This is my 4th completed build.

I’m a total hobbyist. I build for me, so that I can play and own everything on my wish list!

  20. Once again, an amazing group of instruments. Kudos to all of the builders -- what great talent we have here in the TB community. Difficult to choose just three . . .
