I just put in for a price quote for a winters customs bass. I spotted the link to the site in another thread and I really like the looks of some of the and the base prices are very good. I was wondering if any of you have ever played or owned one, and what you thought of them. Thanks in advance. Jeff
Hello, I'm the manufacturer of Winters Custom Basses. Thanks for the interest in them. Here's a bit of a background of my experience. I started playing bass when I was 13 years old back in 1978. I built my first bass in 1981. My cousin who was a bass player saw my bass and asked me to build him one. Since then I've built probably 40 or 50 basses for family and friends. One day my wife said to me, Why don't you open a little business? Well, I thought it was a pretty good idea. The Scarab that almighty pancake has was built as a test bed to try out new ideas. It's gone through many different brands and models of p/j pickup sets, and quite a few different pre-amp/eq's. The one that is in there now was made by me. The reason I let that bass go was to get something in someone elses hands (other than my family). I figured it would be cheesy having testimonials from my family on my site.
dude, you need a real website. I saw that bass for sale on eBay, was impressed, but , never heard of it, tried googling to no avail. GET A REAL WEBSITE! It's to your benefit.
I know. I'm going to get a real website soon. The reason I'm not doing it now is because I want to see if the business is going to take off first. If it starts to roll, I'll get one.
Go JP, I really wanna see what you can pull out of the bag! But yeah, getting a proper site would be really cool!
Just following in the footsteps of the greats like Fender, Gibson, and Alembic. They didn't have a web site when they started either.
If I were to go custom, I'd go with JP. (We miss you at MX! Come back!) EDIT: JP Winters, not JP Basses...
Yea, but hardly applicable to today's market. Fender didn't have one because there was no internet to have a site on!
I really like your style, and also your prices too. It may be months down the road, but I think I found where I will get my next bass. A bubinga Scroll 2 would be incredible. Website bookmarked.
