I like to use a wireless when I play, but boy, through an amp as quiet as the LM II, you really hear the deficiencies of wirelesses. I don't want to mention what I have, but let's just say they rhyme with Hamson. These have always been strong performers for me, and I've used their wirelesses for 20 years almost and been very happy, but boy, through this amp, they just don't cut it. So does anyone know of any wirelesses that do cut it? Here's what I want...I want the sound of that amp with a cord through the wireless. I don't want it compressed, I don't want it hissing, I want it to sound the same. I jump around and dance a lot onstage, and I would love not having to deal with cords, but if I can't get that out of a wireless, I'd just as soon use a cord and trip all over myself. So start recommending and I'll start trying them out. Thanks!
I've had pretty good luck with the Sennheiser Evolution series wireless units in the past, but based on what everyone on here has been saying, it sounds like the new X-Wire units might be exactly what you are looking for.
Has anyone tried the AKG WMS 400? It looks like it has good specs. But as wel all know, specs can be deceiving.
Geez, that X2 is looking good! Great specs. GC has the X2 and the AKG. Looks like I'll be taking a ride tomorrow morning.
Well, not that you guys seem to care, but I ended up getting two of those little X2 wirelesses, one for electric, one for upright. I dimed the combo and played and listened for noise and I couldn't hear any, and it sounded the same as a cord, so even though the rack model's specs are better, I went for the portability and the $200 less. And since I bought all that MB stuff last week, I got them for $250 each!
Yeah, the X-2 stuff is incredible. I had an older AKG before making the switch last month. It sounds so much like being plugged in with a cable. I think for the $$ it's the only wireless to really consider for bass.
I let our guitarist try it during a break, and he asked me to go get him one tomorrow. Those things performed like champs tonight. Hard to believe that Samson sells those Airlines for the same price as the X2 portable, and the X2 blows it away.
I use a Shure wireless (PG14) with my Markbass amp and it sounds pretty much indistinguishable from using a cable to me. Glad to hear those X2s are working for you, though Jimmy - I haven't tried one myself, but I've heard other folks saying they work really well. Now put the credit card DOWN and step away from the counter!
