I have had a Musicman 5 for 7 years and a while back, I had Lane Poor install one of his humbucking pickups. I does work, but not right. I think the electronics are meant for the Single/Parallel/Phantom setup the MM came with. Should I just get a new onboard preamp?, or does anyone know how the wiring works on the existing setup?. Thanks, Bob

Yup, the preamp on the 5'er is unique. You'll have to decide whether to get a different preamp, or just put the stock pickup back in.

Those Lane Poor pickups are going for a FORTUNE on Ebay, so you might want to consider selling it. That Ray certainly isn't going to sound like a Ray anymore once you swap botht the pickup and preamp. You might like it better, who knows . . .
