I just got a 2 wire HB to replace my 4 wire HB. I only ran the old one in series anyway. When I had it out last time, I noticed that one of hte magnets was broken, so I ordered an inexpensive replacement.
So the bass is an old Kramer Duke-- volume/tone and a 3 position p'up selector. So, where should I solder the white wire? the bare wire? Will this bypass the switch?

Thanks for your help. I'm not much of an electronics guy.

bare wire sounds like it's the ground wire to me. White wire sounds like it should go to the switch.

So, can I ground it to one of the pots?

OK, so I removed all of the wires from the switch. (Unsoldered them all, actually) That made it of no consequence. Next, I soldered the hot lead from the p'up to the middle prong on the volume pot-- added it near the cap. Then I grounded the bare wire to the same pot, plugged it in and voila! It sounds great! wOOt!!
