The first pic is the stock wiring of my Player jazz and it is perfect in every way. The issue is with the second pic. It's my 70's VM jazz that I got modded with a SD SBP3 p bass pickup and a SBJ 3B pickup. I find that on this bass I am not getting the output that I should be getting and it seems way too dark. No matter how I setup the amp and the tone on the bass is wide open I cant get any high end. If you notice on the pic of the Squier the red wire and the tone cap seem to be reversed! Could that be my problem? The pots were upgraded to CTS 250k pots with a 0.047uf cap and a switchcraft jack. If this is not the problem can someone steer me in the right direction pls
I personally thought the bass would have more output and have way more punch and bite than it does. Also the jazz bass pickup has less output than the P bass pickup, but I think that is normal in a passive pj setup isn't it?
I can't see some of the starts and stops of wires in the 2nd pic, but it does look like there could be less-than-perfect solder joins here and there, which can impact things. Have you traced each wire to ensure it is wired identically?
Nope! I have little clue about wiring and soldering. This job was done by a friend of mine and about one of the only guitar techs in town
